How to wrap and delegate tokens

As a Flare or Songbird token holder, you can wrap and delegate your tokens to a FTSO provider that you trust, to give them vote power and share the rewards they earn.

There are a few options on how to wrap and delegate your tokens. You could use a wallet, a dapp or interact directly with smart contracts. We would recommend the first option for most users.

First, you must wrap your native tokens, FLR into WFLR or SGB into WSGB. The wrapped native tokens have a one-to-one conversion rate. Make sure to keep some native tokens to pay gas fees. Then, select and delegate your wrapped tokens. If you haven’t done so already, read this article on how to choose a FTSO provider.

In order to support decentralization of the ecosystem and hedging your bets, spread the delegations to multiple FTSO providers. Each address can delegate to two providers.

The easiest way to wrap and delegate your tokens is via the Bifrost Wallet, which has native support for wrapping and delegating built into the application.

Some providers offer dapps for wrapping and delegating. If you use a dapp, make sure that it’s a dapp that you trust and audit any transactions before you sign them. The last and most advanced option is to do it manually. Flare Network has documentation on manual delegation.
